└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
■ Release Date: 14·Mar·1996
OK - Here is NeCRosoft's first releasable program :) It's a chat
program for everyone. It lets users communicate - letting them add
to a conversation when they log on or whatever. It saves people
having to write long messages. Its not my idea though, I stole the
idea off Flax who wrote PSYCH0chat. When I noticed everyone was
complaining about how slow PSYCH0chat was, I decided to make a new
and faster program. When I was making it I put in afew extras
like Automatic Censoring, Kewl Text [Changes the letter E to Σ and
A to Æ etc.] + a border. It dosn't have Individual Letter colour
codes though - Otherwise It'd be slow.
Well. Anyway - hope you like it, Expect more NeCRosoft software
to come ! Enjoy :)
- Disclaimer -
Lakyan [me :)] will not be held responsible for any damage, data
loss or problems caused by NeCRoblab. [Even though I don't know
how that Necroblab could possibly fuck up your computer].
- Setting Up NeCRoblab -
Only a tripp'n fool wouldn't be able to set up NeCRoblab. Here's
how to do it :
1. After Unzipping the file into any directory run "BLABCFG.EXE"
and set up the program to however you want it to be. There is
instructions down the bottom of the screen while in the CFG. You
can change colours when defining the strings by pressing up and
down. This is included when writing comments in Necroblab too.
If your BBS dosn't support EXiTiNFO.BBS, just leave the space
totally blank. When setting the Drop File Path/Name - Available
Drop file types are:
DORINFOx.DEF
DOOR.SYS
INFO.BBS
CALLINFO.BBS
SFDOOR.DAT
CHAIN.TXT
PCBOARD.SYS
DORINFOx.DEF works best with Necroblab, and includes some extra
featurs when used. x is the node number. Eg. DORINFO1.DEF would
be for node 1.
2. Once you have saved the configuration, you can use an ANSi
editor [like TheDraw or something] to edit BLABHDR.ANS. This ANSi
should include a ANSi Header or something and a Border. When
doing the Border, start from line 22 and move upwards. The Border
MUST have the correct number of lines that you defined in BlabCFG
or it will stuff up. A Sample ANSi is included - U can just use
that if you prefer.
For Example - If I had 15 lines Max. - The Header would take up
5 lines of the ANSi, and the Border would be a box [in Y, X
coordinates] starting at 6, 1 and ending at 22, 80 ! The sample
ANSi will give you a better example of what I mean.
Note!! If in the CFG you set Flags > "Use BLABHDR.<ext>" to YES,
then you must create a seperate ANSi header for each of the chat
files you use. Eg. If you have TV Chat by loading up Necroblab
with NECROBLB TV [To Use BLAB.TV Chat File] - Then you must also
create the ANSi BLABHDR.TV for it to use - If you want all chat
channels to use BLABHDR.ANS, then set "Use BLABHDR.<ext>" to NO.
3. Edit the batch that comes with Necroblab and put it in the BBS
main directory. You can then get your BBS to run this Batchfile
to execute Necroblab.
The batchfile should look something like this :
@Echo Off
CD \RA\BLAB
NECROBLB.EXE TXT
CD \RA
EXIT
After NECROBLB.EXE You *MUST* Incluse the extension name of the
file you want Necroblab to Read from and Write to !! Eg. Loading
up Necroblab with "NECROBLB TV" Would make Necroblab Read/Write
to the file BLAB.TV ! Simple !
Note: If You invoke NECROBLB With `-L' You will be put in Local
Mode with the default Data File set to BLAB.TXT.
See the default batchfile for a better example.
5. Go into your BBS setup and execute the batch file from where
you want it to run [eg. I have mine in the TOP menu, so it runs
when my users log on - I also have it in my MAIN MENU so users
can also execute it whenever they want to ].
Eg. Setup For Remote Access would go something like :
Optional Data : *C /C NECROBLB.BAT *M
Action : Execute SUB Program (Type 7)
6. BTW, Your Users also have the choice to use colour when adding
to the conversation. This is done by pressing Up/Down when asked
what they want to say. These are automatically converted to
Necroblab's special colour codes. [new in 3.3 !]
7. All done ! Now sit back and watch as millions join your BBS :)
- Upgrading -
1. When upgrading from a version of NeCRoblab earlier than 3.3,
just run the UPGRADE.EXE and it's all done for U ! This file just
deletes afew uneccassary files not needed any more in Necroblab,
and put's BORDER.ANS and BLABHDR.ANS into 1 whole file.
- Running Locally -
1. Just run NECROBLB.EXE without a drop file switch at the end !
A local logon screen will come up for you.
Special Thanx Go 2 :
■ Belgarion [P$YRΣN BBS / Currently Offline]
■ A1 Stud Muffin [AsM] - [FΘRTRΣ$$ ßß$ - [o3] 9439·4340]
■ Milamber [Dark Queen BBS - [o3] 9877·5912]
■ Vampyre [The Crypt BBS / Currently Offline]
■ Roblo [Piss Pot BBS - [o3] 9776·7030]
■ Flax [PSYCH0TiC BBS - [o3] 9571·7456]
Thanx 4 ALL your help ppl's !
BTW - Theres a new special code in Necroblab that lets you print
the currently online users name where you like. ie.
If the user online was called "Lakyan" - and you typed :
- I reckon `USER sucks bigtime !
It would come out as :
- I reckon Lakyan sucks bigtime !
This can be real funny sumtimes :) But - try not to put it too
close to the edge, cause - if the user has a long name it'll go
over the ANSi.
